Kerala's heritage, brought home with care from Guruvayur.
Arte House is a home décor brand from Guruvayur. Since 2016, we've been sending Krishna idols, devotional décor and fridge magnets to homes across India, and we treat every order as if it were going to our own home.
It began with a love of art and photography
Arte House started life as a blog showcasing paintings and photography. In 2016, we turned it into an online store. I had just finished engineering, built our first website myself, and taught myself how to get it found online. Our first products came from my uncle's shop in Guruvayur: Krishna idols, Kerala wooden boats, Theyyam and Kathakali pieces.
The first order took six months to arrive. Then a few more came every month, and slowly people from outside Kerala started finding us too.
We set out to be a Kerala arts and crafts brand. Our customers kept asking for one thing more than anything else, the Guruvayur Krishna, so that is what we became best known for.

Packed at home, by family
In 2017, I joined Excel Impex in Thrissur as e-commerce manager for their brand, but I kept Arte House going as a side hustle. Our Vishu kani kits were the first thing that really took off, and that season the whole family pitched in. Every night after I got home from work, my mom, my dad and I would pack orders until midnight. Every morning my father tied the day's parcels onto my scooter; I dropped them off for dispatch and then took the bus to work. Sundays were for sourcing: I would go around Guruvayur looking for the best products I could find.
A lot has changed since then. In 2019, I resigned from my job to focus on Arte House full-time. But some things haven't changed: Arte House is still run from our home near Guruvayur by a small team, family included, and every order is still checked, packed and sent off by people who know your name.
Four promises we keep with every order
You see your exact idol first
Before we pack, we send photos and a short video of your idol on WhatsApp. If the face or colour isn't right, we'll show you another one. Nothing ships until you say "Approved."
Picked by hand at the workshop
Every idol is finished individually, so no two look exactly alike. We go to the workshop ourselves and choose pieces for the quality of their finishing, instead of taking whatever happens to be in stock.
Every idol gets a final touch-up
If an idol has any flaw in its painting or finishing, our team touches it up before it reaches you. That extra step is why our idols look better finished than the ones you'll find on most shop shelves in Guruvayur.
Packed to survive the journey
Each idol is wrapped in bubble wrap and thermocol and sent in a strong 7-ply carton. Our packing is the thing customers mention most in their reviews.
